Bees' Needs Week

Every July, Bees' Needs Week reminds us of something close to our hearts: protecting the pollinators that keep our countryside, gardens and food supply thriving.
Run by Defra, Bees' Needs Week encourages everyone to take small, practical steps to support bees and other pollinating insects.
Why are bees so important?
Bees and other pollinators play a vital role in nature, helping plants reproduce and supporting many of the crops we eat every day. Without healthy pollinator populations, our ecosystems and food production would look very different.
As a family business built around honey, bees aren't just part of our name—they're at the heart of everything we do.
Joe's Top Ways To Help Bees
🐝 Plant nectar-rich flowers
Choose flowers that bloom throughout the seasons to provide bees with a reliable source of food.
💧 Create a Bee-Friendly Water Stop
Bees need water too! Help pollinators on hot days by providing a shallow dish of fresh water with landing spots like stones or pebbles so they can drink safely.
🌼 Let parts of your garden grow wild
A slightly untidy corner can become a haven for bees and other wildlife.
✂️ Cut your grass less often
Longer grass allows wildflowers to flourish, creating valuable habitats for pollinators.
🏡 Protect bee habitats
Place logs or similar materials in a garden corner to create nesting areas. Avoid disturbing nests and places where insects shelter or hibernate.
🌱 Think carefully before using pesticides
Reducing pesticide use helps protect bees and the plants they rely on.
