Honey Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Soft, fluffy and full of comforting spice, these Honey Cinnamon Rolls are a truly special bake. Made with a rich swirl of cinnamon and finished with a warm honey glaze, they’re perfect for weekend baking, sharing with loved ones, or simply enjoying with a quiet cuppa.

You can use any Just Bee Honey in this recipe, but we particularly love Royal Honey. With its silky texture and subtle richness from Manuka, Royal Jelly and vitamin D, it adds a naturally luxurious sweetness that complements the cinnamon beautifully.

Don’t worry if you’re not an experienced baker—this recipe is wonderfully forgiving and absolutely worth the wait!

Ingredients

 (makes 9 rolls)

For the dough:

  • 2¾ cups (340g) plain flour
  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (7g) fast-action dried yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg

For the filling:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Just Bee Honey (we recommend Royal Honey for extra richness)
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon

For the glaze:

  • 2 tablespoons Just Bee Honey
  • 1 tablespoon warm milk
  • Optional: a light dusting of icing sugar or a cream cheese drizzle

Method

1. Make the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast and salt. In a small saucepan, warm the milk and butter until the butter has melted and the mixture is just warm—not hot. Pour into the dry ingredients, add the egg, and mix until a soft dough forms.

2. Knead and Rise:

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and springy. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

3. Prepare the Filling:

In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, honey and cinnamon into a paste.

4. Shape the Rolls:

Roll out the dough into a rectangle (roughly 30cm x 25cm). Spread the filling evenly over the surface. Roll up tightly from the long side, then cut into 9 equal pieces.

5. Second Rise:

Arrange the rolls in a greased square or round baking tin. Cover loosely and let them rise for another 30–40 minutes, until puffed up.

6. Bake:

Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

7. Glaze and Serve:

While the rolls are still warm, mix the honey and warm milk together and brush over the tops. Serve as they are, or with an optional drizzle of icing or cream cheese frosting for an extra indulgent touch.

These Honey Cinnamon Rolls are soft, sweet and wonderfully spiced—with the gentle richness of Royal Honey making them feel just that little bit more special. Perfect for slow mornings, Sunday bakes or a thoughtful homemade treat.

Golden, gooey and best enjoyed warm from the oven.
