What is Bee Pollen? 🐝🌿

Bee pollen might be small, but it’s making a big impact in the world of health and wellness. Packed with nutrients, it’s often called “nature’s multivitamin”, but what exactly is it, and why is it so special?

Where Does Bee Pollen Come From?

Collected by honeybees, bee pollen is formed as they move from flower to flower, gathering nectar and picking up tiny pollen grains along the way. The bees mix these grains with nectar and natural enzymes, forming small golden granules that they store in the hive. It’s an essential food source for young bees, but it turns out it’s just as beneficial for us too!

What Makes Bee Pollen So Nutritious?

Bee pollen is naturally rich in protein, containing all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein source. It’s packed with vitamins, particularly B vitamins and vitamin C, as well as minerals like iron, magnesium, and zinc. On top of that, it provides slow-releasing carbohydrates, offering a natural energy boost without the crash.

What Are the Benefits of Bee Pollen?

For centuries, bee pollen has been used in traditional medicine, and modern studies are starting to uncover its incredible benefits. Many people turn to it for immune support, thanks to its powerful antioxidants that help protect the body. It also has natural anti-inflammatory properties, which may aid recovery after exercise or injury. Some even find that adding bee pollen to their diet improves digestion, as it contains enzymes that help break down food more efficiently.

How Can You Add Bee Pollen to Your Diet?

There are plenty of ways to enjoy bee pollen, whether it’s sprinkled over yoghurt, stirred into porridge, or blended into a smoothie. It has a slightly sweet, floral taste and adds a gentle crunch to meals. If you’re trying it for the first time, it’s best to start small and see how your body reacts, as it can trigger allergies in a very small number of people.

Is Bee Pollen Worth Trying?

There’s no denying that bee pollen is a powerhouse of nutrients. Whether you’re looking for an extra boost of energy, better digestion, or just a natural way to support your overall well-being, this tiny superfood might be worth adding to your routine.

How Do We Ethically Harvest Bee Pollen?

Bees are incredible workers, often producing more pollen than they need to sustain the hive. However, young bees rely on pollen as a crucial source of protein for their growth and development. At Just Bee, we make sure that we only collect the excess pollen, leaving more than enough for the colony to thrive. Responsible beekeepers carefully harvest small amounts at a time, ensuring the bees’ natural rhythm isn’t disrupted. This way, we can enjoy the nutritional benefits of bee pollen while still putting the wellbeing of our buzzing friends first.

Have you tried bee pollen before? Let us know how you use it! 🐝💛

Just received my first 2 jars of the turmeric honey and hoping it will be good for my arthritic fingers 🤞😊 It’s made a difference to my friends fingers and she recommended it.

I used to use bee pollen…I loved it! Sprinkled it on top of my smoothies, mixed into overnight oats or threw in salads. I stopped using as I was concerned about the welfare of the bees in its collection. You’ve put my mind at rest and I look forward to being able to use it again! Thanks 🐝

Yes, I have tried bee pollen and used to get it regularly. Not so easy for me to collect from my source now. I always used it on cereal/porridge. Also in a milky drink at bedtime. I do think its properties make a difference to your well being!

Yes I’ve tried pollen before but bought online, but would rather get it from you as I buy honey regularly and like very much

I am using natural bee pollen at the moment. Only just started but couldn`t refuse when I saw the list of benefits. How much will yours be selling for please?

Looking forward to trying the bee pollen when it’s available. Love your honey, and sorry to hear that the salted caramel isn’t going to be a regular product.

Not tried bee pollen yet, but looking forward to trying. I sometimes see chefs use it on tv programmes and often wondered about it. I will probably try it in my porridge first.

Hello all at Just Bee Honey, someone I know has a couple of hives and sadly he lost a whole hive over the winter. On the positive side he had a delivery of bees complete with a queen (of course), so hopefully they are settling in ok.
Looking forward to your pollen granules though and when they become available (no rush) I should very much like to try some and hope I’m not allergic!

Patricia Anne Jones

I haven’t tried it but everyone keeps telling me to as I’m a gastric sleave patient and immune suppressed, so think it would be ideal.

Michelle chadwick

Never tried but maybe if it’s that great
