From Beehives to Better Digestion: Why We Created Gut Health Honey

Back in April 2024, we asked our community a simple question: what health challenges would you most like support with? The response was clear. Again and again, one topic rose to the top — gut health.

When we looked more closely at the research, it became even clearer why. Around two-thirds of adults experience gut health issues at some point in their lives, and almost 40% struggle with digestive discomfort every single week. For something so many of us deal with, often quietly, it felt important to create a product that could make a real difference.

That’s when the idea for Gut Health Honey was born.

A Labour of Love

We’ll be honest — this hasn’t been a quick or simple project. It’s taken the best part of a year to get right, and there were times we wondered if we were asking too much of ourselves. The truth is, there are countless products on the market that claim to help with gut health. But when we studied them, so many seemed incomplete.

Some offered probiotics, but no prebiotics — like trying to plant seeds without feeding the soil. Others tasted medicinal or artificial, which meant they were unlikely to become something people actually looked forward to taking every day. And then there were blends that promised the world but fell short on the science.

We knew we had to do better.

So we began experimenting. Some recipes ticked the health boxes but didn’t taste great. Others tasted lovely but lacked the evidence-based ingredients we felt were essential. It was a process of trial, error, and persistence. There were moments of doubt — “maybe we’ve overcomplicated this” crossed my mind more than once — but we kept going.

Because we didn’t want to create just another supplement. We wanted something that was natural, enjoyable, and genuinely effective — a daily ritual that felt like self-care rather than another chore.

The Final Recipe

After months of testing, tasting, and refining, we landed on a blend we’re truly proud of: Gut Health Honey.

It combines:

  • Acacia honey, naturally light and gentle on digestion.
  • Prebiotics and probiotics, working hand in hand to nourish good bacteria and restore balance.
  • Kiwifruit powder, to support gentle digestion and ease bloating.
  • Vitamin C, because so much of the immune system lives in the gut — the two really do go hand in hand.
  • And finally, a warming apple & cinnamon flavour that makes every spoonful as comforting as it is delicious.

This is not a product built on gimmicks. It’s made with real intention — simple, natural ingredients that work together beautifully, without overpromising or overcomplicating things.

More Than Just Honey

For me, Gut Health Honey is about more than creating another jar to sit in the kitchen cupboard. It’s about making gut care easy and enjoyable. It’s about listening to what our community told us they truly needed. And it’s about bringing together the science of nutrition with the natural goodness of honey — something that has been at the heart of Just Bee since day one.

We can’t wait to share it with you. The launch is just around the corner — keep an eye on your inbox for the first chance to try your daily spoonful of gut-ness.
