Today we thank our Southern American cousins for introducing us to the wonders of pulled pork which is a US barbecue favourite. Traditionally cooked slowly over a wood fire for a delicious smoky taste, our version is roasted in the oven for convenience using smoked paprika and smoked garlic granules to add some of that authentic smoky taste. Of course we also added plenty of honey to add some amazing sweetness too!...
A lot of people completely ignore rice puddings these days. It's likely a combination of this classic dessert feeling a bit old fashioned and (bad) memories of sloppy school rice pudding- where the only real flavour would come from that tiny blob of jam on top!
It's time to forget all that, because our baked rice pudding recipe is a pure dairy delight; decadently creamy and packed with baked apple, sweet honey and rich cinnamon flavours. If you haven't tried rice pudding for a long time then we highly recommend giving it a try! This recipe is very simple and requires minimal work and clean up!...
There isn't much that can beat a bowl of tasty soup for lunch in our opinion. This delicious sweet potato soup is packed with warming spices and sweet vegetable goodness! This recipe will make enough for 4-6 typical sized servings or maybe even 8 as a small starter. We used chicken stock cubes because we love the extra flavour it adds but feel free to use vegetable stock cubes if you want to keep the soup suitable for vegetarians...
Bienenstich or Bee Sting Cake originates from Germany. It's a light and airy yeast cake with a rich vanilla custard or cream filling and a crunchy honey almond top. While we call it cake, it actually has more in common with a honey sweetened Italian Panettone or a French brioche loaf...
Our honey chilli recipe is a delicious sweet and spicy chilli that you can serve in so many ways, with rice, jacket potatoes, or some nice chunky bread. It's also perfect for making 'chilli dogs' using it as a topping for hot dogs. It's a simple 'one pot' recipe made in a large saucepan or wok. We've intentionally made this fairly mild on the heat scale, for one we find it's the better way to experience all the flavour from the wonderful spices and secondly we want the recipe to be enjoyed by everyone...
It's a new year again and what better way to start the year than with some delicious smoothie recipes? Both of these recipes contain superfoods bursting with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. They are a great way to counter some of that holiday over-indulgence on sweets, crisps and other slightly less healthy snacks! These recipes will make enough for 2 servings, so you can either share with a loved one or save half in the fridge for the next day!...
Our delicious mincemeat filling is bursting with fruits, nuts, honey and wonderful Christmassy spices! The ingredients list may look quite long but it's very easy to make. A heads up before you start, the filling will need 24-48 hours chilling before using to allow all the flavours to fully develop, so make it a couple of days before you intend to bake the pies for the best results!...
Our tasty and easy to bake Hot Toddy Lemon Cake is based on our tried and tested honey cake recipe. We've added some elements from a classic lemon drizzle cake and a traditional Scotch hot toddy to make a deliciously boozy cake that's perfect for the colder weather, which seems to be coming in all too quickly at the moment...
Steak bites are one of my favourite ways to enjoy a nice piece of steak. It's also a great way to serve steak to kids as they can sometimes struggle cutting up a large piece of meat to eat; even I find it a bit of a chore sometimes, when I'm hungry all I want to do is tuck in to my food! Our honey garlic steak bites can be served in many different ways, from a simple appetizer to a larger meal with potatoes and vegetables of your choice...
Whoopie pies are a sweet filled sandwich cake or cookie that originated in the United States. I think they fall somewhere in the cake dessert realm and remind me of something similar to a Viennese whirl. They are great with a cuppa - but they also make a fantastic dessert in a bowl with a little pouring cream...
These juicy chicken kebabs are bursting with flavour and have both a delightful honey sweetness and a real kick of zesty tang! The lime pairs perfectly with our sweet honey to create a really tasty and exciting dish from some humble chicken thighs. Our honey lime kebabs can be served as part of a larger barbecue feast or as a simple but delicious meal with some rice, colourful grilled vegetables, or a fresh salad...
On the 1st July it's National Ginger Snap Day in the USA, so if you need an excuse to bake yourself some sweet ginger biscuits, then why not make some to celebrate with our American cousins!
Ginger snaps are said to have originated in Germany and the 'snap' part of the name actually comes from the German word snappen which means to “to seize quickly” and is not a reference to the iconic 'snap' of the biscuit as you might think. In some parts of the world they are made to be quite soft like an American cookie. However in the UK (with our penchant for dunking biscuits in a cuppa!) most people prefer a ginger snap to be quite snappy....
