Honey Roasted Salmon Recipe

Honey Roast Salmon recipe from Just Bee
Salmon is a great option for creating a really special meal. If you are looking for a recipe to treat someone special in your life, then this might be the perfect choice.

In my opinion, during the summer months, this Honey Salmon is best served with a simple salad and some fresh, juicy tomatoes. However I'd also recommend serving with boiled new potatoes covered in butter and vegetables of your choice. Some great vegetable options would be asparagus, broccoli or peas, but feel free to pair it with your favourite potatoes and vegetables.

I've created this recipe for two but if you want to make it a family meal then you can just double everything. I used boneless skin-on Salmon fillets from the supermarket refrigerator section. It's a simple but delicious meal that uses many of the same ingredients we've used in our previous recipes.

To make this Honey Roasted Salmon recipe, you will need:

  • 2 Boneless Salmon Fillets (mine were 120g each)

  • 2 Tablespoons of Just Bee Original Honey

  • 1 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce

  • 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil

  • 1 Teaspoon of Chilli Flakes

  • 1 Teaspoon of Garlic Puree or Fresh Minced Garlic

  • ½ Teaspoon of Sesame Seeds

  • Sea Salt

  • Black Pepper

  • Vegetable oil or Sunflower oil

  • A Small Bowl

  • A Small Roasting Tin

  • Kitchen Foil

Time to prepare 10 – 15 minutes, cooking time 15 - 20 minutes.

1: Get the oven nice and hot!

Set the oven to gas mark 6 or 200C, if you have a fan oven then lower it down to180C. The oven will have plenty of time to pre-heat while you prepare your roasting tin and Salmon.

2: Get the roasting tin prepared.

Line the roasting tin with kitchen foil and pour a little vegetable oil or sunflower oil in the bottom. Give it a wipe around with some kitchen roll, so the oil has a nice thin coating over the foil. We don't want the fish drowning in the oil! Put the tin aside for a moment while we prepare the glaze.

3. Combine the glaze ingredients.

In the small bowl, mix together the olive oil, soy sauce and Just Bee honey with a fork or spoon. Once mixed together add the garlic, chilli flakes and sesame seeds.

4: Next prepare the Salmon.

Luckily for us there's not a great deal to do here! Just remove the salmon from any packaging, season the fillets with a little salt and pepper and place skin side down in the centre of your roasting tin. It's best to leave some space between the fillets, just a few centimetres so the fillet can cook evenly on all sides.

5: Glaze the Salmon!

Take the bowl with the honey glaze in and spoon the mixture over the top of the Salmon. Ideally you want to make sure that every part of the Salmon fillet is covered, so do a little at a time and any part that looks dry or a little thin, add some more to those places until they are fully covered.

It's worth taking a little extra time here. Use all the glaze, we'll be basting half way though, so it doesn't matter if there's a lot in the bottom of the tin.

6: Roasting Part 1.

Set your timer for 7 ½ minutes and pop the Salmon in the middle of the oven.

7: Basting the Salmon.

Remove the roasting tin from the oven and carefully spoon the glaze and oils around the fillets over the top. This will create a thick glaze and help to stop the fish from drying out.

8: Roasting Part 2.

Return the your Salmon to the middle shelf and roast for a further 7 1/2 minutes.

After the full 15 minutes cooking time the salmon should flake away from the skin underneath easily and be fully cooked. If it doesn't appear to be the case, return for another 3 - 5 minutes. The Salmon should be flaky, moist but not translucent in the centre.

Once fully cooked remove the Salmon from the roasting tin and plate up with your salad and fresh tomatoes.

Notes on the ingredients and other options.

If you are serving for someone who doesn't like garlic then feel free to omit the garlic altogether.

For more heat you could add some thinly sliced fresh chilli to the top after cooking.

As always for the best results we recommend our Original Honey for this recipe but you can use whatever honey you may have in the cupboard.
